Pulmonary Rehab
Scientific Abstract

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

Spring Mountain Rehab is a Comprehensive Outpatient Rehab Facility and served as certified satellite site for outpatient pulmonary rehab during the recent National Emphysema Treatment Trial for the Mayo Clinic, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and for the University of California, San Diego Medical Center.

Pulmonary Disease
Sixteen million Americans are estimated to be affected by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. Pulmonary disease is the fourth leading cause of death in the United States. Preventative and rehabilitative care for patients with pulmonary disease can reduce the need for hospitalization and improve survival. Therapy and patient education to change diet, exercise and life style habits can decrease the need for institutionalized care and aid in returning the patient to a higher degree of physiological and psychological function.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Multi-disciplinary patient treatment coordinated with a team of professionals can provide the patient and family with information and support to meet the challenge of changing lifestyle habits and improving quality of life while living with a chronic lung disorder.

Our individualized treatment plans are designed to:

  • Control and mitigate the symptoms and complications of COPD
  • Educate the patient and family to achieve an optimal level of independence and physical capabilities
  • Reduce hospitalization and long term health care costs
